Irene Lopez, a Christian teacher at the school in Mavrovouni camp in Lesbos, analyses the current situation of refugees and their needs.

Remei Oliva tells in a book how she fled to France and ended up in a centre run by Elisabeth Eidenbenz, the daughter of a pastor. “Without her, I would have died”, says the son.

(UPDATED) Evangelical platforms in Europe offer channels to support ministries in Ukraine and the bordering countries receiving refugees.

“Those who are already stuck on either side of the border must receive urgent and adequate humanitarian aid”, says the evangelical body as it appeals to “Europe's Judaeo-Christian values of human dignity, justice, compassion and solidarity”.

The German Evangelical Alliance joins the Protestant Church and others in an appeal to the German government. More refugee families should be welcomed and more “neutral spaces of discussion” provided.

Beirut is still recovering, in the midst of an economic crisis. “Churches are on the streets, helping those in need, praying with them and giving free bibles”.

13,000 people lose their shelters as the tensions grow in the Greek island of Lesbos. Christian aid workers demand effective solutions and “not repeating the same mistakes”.

Tom Albinson (International Association For Refugees) analyses the 2020 refugee crisis. He believes churches are key “to open the door” and help asylum seekers integrate in a new culture.

Volunteers of the Christian project I58 serve the needs of asylum seekers in the Moria refugee camp. Their community centre offers “tea and biscuits to around 500 to 700 people per day”.

Children of the refugee camps in Lebanon who do not have access to schooling, are the main focus of the Christian NGO Together For the Family.

Fear of the coronavirus has also come to the Moria refugee camp in Lesbos (Greece), prompting several Christian organizations to take steps to protect the nearly 20,000 people crowded into the camp.

The fields around the Greek the refugee camp are “oversaturated”. Pau Abad, a volunteer on the ground, shares about the “hopelessness” of the hundreds of families who continue to arrive every week and will face “a very tough winter”.

Arie de Pater, Brussels representative of the European Evangelical Alliance: “There is a tendency to call the migrant the problem, feeding a rhetoric in which we, Europeans, are the victims. But that is not the case”.

Christians need to face the crisis with maturity and without getting carried away by political preferences.

More than 140 delegates of about 50 organisations met in the Netherlands. Training and resources were offered in specific workshops.

Around 480,000 Rohingya refugees have arrived in Bangladesh. World Vision has warned against the horrible  living conditions in refugee camps and the huge lack of resources.

Churches and Christians are called to participate in the Refugee Sunday on June 25. The EEA has joined 18 other NGOs to oppose the current EU discourse on migrations.
