In the recent months, there have been many demonstrations and marches of Christians in Latin American countries like Argentina and Costa Rica, to defend the family and the right to live.

Last weekend, Ecuadorian and Guatemalan Christians took the streets to defend family values and highlight God as the only One who can bring solution to the difficult situation of these countries.

MARCH FOR JESUS IN ECUADOR

The main streets of Quevedo, Ecuador, were filled with joy during the twenty-second March for Jesus. Christians took to the streets to proclaim God as the center of their families.

Hundreds of evangelical Christians from Ecuador, and several visitors from Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Honduras and Cuba attended the march.

During the evnt, several cars showed the natural riches of Ecuador. Additionally, the participants expressed their gratitude to God through posters with different messages, striking dances, music, and colorful costumes.

“It's an event that brings color and values to the city. My family and I are waiting for it every year”, said one of the participants.

The goal of this year was to highlight God as the only one who can produce transcendental changes in Ecuadorian families, bring hope of better days for Ecuador and the world, the defense of life and creation care.

“When one honors God, that brings blessings to the country. We believe that God has great plans for this nation. These kind of activities honor God and bring blessing to the nation”, said Amara de Benítez, pastor of the Christian Restoration Center, who was in charge of organization.

“GUATE FOR LIFE AND FAMILY”

Thousands of Guatemalans marched on Sunday against abortion and in favor of the family in the capital of the country.

Under the motto “Guate for life and family”, the march was supported by the evangelical churches and the Catholic Church.

Participants proclaimed slogans like: “No to abortion. Yes to life”. They also chanted phrases like “The family matters”, “Guate for the two lives” or “Male and female he created them”.

Thousands of young people, children and elderly people walked with posters which say: “Woman plus man equals marriage”, “Abortion has a beating heart” or “For a family as God commands: mom, dad and children”.

According to the organizers, around 15,000 Guatemalans participated in the march, organised by the movement “Let's Transform Guate” to express their support for the “Protection of Life and Family” parliamentary initiative.

“PROTECTION OF LIFE AND FAMILY” INITIATIVE

The initiative has already been approved in the second debate at the Congress (it needs three to be passed). It promotes the “right to life”, the “institution of marriage between a man and a woman”, the "freedom of conscience and expression”, as well as the “right of parents to educate and guide their children and train them about sexuality”.

The President of Guatemala, Jimmy Morales, reiterated last week his opposition to abortion and marriage between people of the same sex.

“Guatemala and our government believe in life. Our Government and Guatemala believe in the family based on the marriage of men and women”, the President told the media.
