Christians working with forcibly displaced people in Europe addressed key issues at Roundtable in Málaga

150 practitioners and experts serving across Europe discussed topics such as strengthening younger generations, mental health and sexual abuse prevention. The Refugee Highway Partnership organises such gatherings every year.

From March 23–27, the annual Refugee Highway Partnership (RHP) Roundtable in Europe took place once again in Malaga (Spain).

The Roundtable is a gathering of leaders and others engaged in serving people who have been forcibly displaced across Europe.

This year, 150 participants came together, from over 25 countries each focusing on different types of ministries but “united by a shared calling and passion to walk alongside people on the move”, the organisers said.

The focus this year was on younger generations and how God invites more experienced Christian leaders to serve with them in more intentional and thoughtful ways.

Practitioners and experts led 28 workshops over the four days. Topics ranged from leadership and child participation to discipleship, mental health, and abuse prevention in the church, among many others.

One particular highlight was hearing testimonies from across the refugee highway, sharing how working with refugees has impacted individuals and communities.

In an increasingly divided political landscape across Europe, “the RHP stands as a reminder to the church that refugees are not to be feared; rather, when welcomed into community, they become forces for good and beauty within it”, says Whitney Gerdes, Managing Director of RHP Europe.
