Kike (kee-keh) Pavón is one of the Christian singers most listened to by Spanish-speaking youth. He has published 4 albums and his music on YouTube has more than 200 million views.

In an interview with Spanish news website Protestante Digital, the Spanish singer invited young people to “seek the Word of God more”.

“Nowadays there is such an over saturation of messages, so much information... If we do not learn to listen to the voice of the Pastor (Jesus) above all, we are going to go crazy”, said the singer-songwriter, adding that the Internet is an incredible tool, but it must be used wisely.

According to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), 20% of young people show symptoms of addiction to new technologies, a figure that has increased with the pandemic.

Pavón pointed out that “the Word is the only thing that can help us walk" in the midst of all that is happening now. He also remembered what was written in Psalm 119:105: “Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path”.

“Today I see a disoriented world, not only in music, I see it in politics, on a day-to-day basis, a world that is lost but believes that it is not. That leads me to analyse what I could contribute to help from the calling that I have”, underlined the singer.

Starting over

Pavón had more than 40 concerts scheduled for 2020, however, due to the health emergency, they had to be canceled.

After a year without singing outside Spain, he was able to travel this month to six cities in Argentina, making two presentations per day, to respect health regulations.

According to Pavón, “there is something special about writing and making songs in the studio, however, music makes more sense when you get together with people and sing to the Lord together”.

“Last year I was able to play in Seville, Alicante and Madrid, but it was this month that I was able to leave my country. I have seen how people respect the rules in each concert, wearing masks and following the recommendations of the organizers. That shows that these activities can be done”, said Pavón.

The Spanish singer also announced that, if conditions permit, he plans to visit three cities in Venezuela in May, accompanied by the Jahaziel Band, a group from that country with which he collaborated on the single “Puro Bla bla!”.

Furthermore, Pavón premiered the video “Miles de canciones” (thousands of songs) on YouTube in 2021, which in less than a month, has already reached over 170,000 views.

Upcoming projects

Pavón is also the director of the School of Music Ministries, an initiative that seeks to provide tools to people who wish to professionalize their artistic projects. He announced that they will continue with the activities in April.

“The training lasts 10 weeks. Participants learn how to make and produce songs, record a video clip, marketing strategies and much more. There are classes where recognized people in the music industry, presidents of record companies, managers and musicians share their experiences and give useful advice”, explained the singer-songwriter.

Furthermore, he told Protestante Digital that he is currently collaborating with emerging artists from Latin America, who also carry the message of the gospel, such as Gabriel Bazán and the bands Vaes and La Feria.

Pavón concluded pointing out that this 2021 he will resume a project previously suspended due to the pandemic, “that goes beyond music, in order to support the churches. I cannot give many details, but I hope to be able to finish it before November”.
