Laziness always tries to find a way in.

Laziness cannot be permitted in any sport. It has destroyed many brilliant careers. But not that of the Danish fencer IVAN OSIIER.

He participated in every Olympic Games between 1908 and 1948 (only missing the 1936 event).

There is a part of every one of us which is always open to the temptation to laziness. However hard-working we are, we may open the door to laziness as it whispers how nice it would be to just do nothing.

Laziness is the visitor that we recognise when it knocks on the door, but it's very difficult to refuse it entry, even if we don't give it cakes, coffee, or cold drinks, or even conversation!

Laziness always tries to find a way in.

We often forget that God says laziness is sin. Like every sin, being lazy brings serious consequences...

Let's leave our laziness behind and get moving! As we have on other occasions, we will read ALL the book of Proverbs so that we can note down what God says about laziness.

Ready? Let's go then.

Hey! We have agreed that we should do it, and not be lazy. Don't look at the answers yet - you are to find them yourself! But just in case many of them coincide, I have found the following:

  • A sluggard is not worthy of confidence (Proverbs 10:26)

  • A sluggard destroys his house (Ecclesiastes 10:18)

  • Laziness makes us sleepy (in every sense - physical, spiritual, moral...) (Proverbs 19:15, 26:14)

  • Laziness is frustrating (13:4)

  • An idle person can never satisfy himself (19:24, 26:15)

  • Being lazy has no future (20:4, 24:30)

  • Laziness increases fear (22:13, 26:3)

'Not doing anything' is the basis for a lot of problems, the lazy person looks for ways to kill time, and ends up neglecting many things which God expects of him.
