Christ is coming back. Maybe he'll come today!
EARVIN JOHNSON... Does that name sound familiar? I'm sure that if I say "MAGIC", you will know who I mean. It's possible that he was the greatest point guard in all the history of basketball. Champion with the Lakers in the NBA in 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987 and 1988; Best Player of the League in 1987, Best Player in the play-offs of 1980, 1982, and 1987. One day he advised some children, "To you boys who want to be somebody in basketball I would say, 'Play day and night'."
Before the Lord Jesus was resurrected and ascended into Heaven, he made one thing very clear - one day he would return. During the three years that Jesus taught his disciples and the crowds about the Kingdom of God, he took time to explain many of the details of his second coming. Signs that have happened over the years, prophecies that refer to the times and hours of his coming, events that are coming to pass in the same way that he said they would, all indicate that he will return SOON. Think about it. Will he come before the year is out...before the end of the month...or before nightfall?
Much time has been dedicated to the study of the signs and events of the second coming. Often mistaken information has gone out which the enemy has used to make people doubt the word of God. One thing is certain; every day that passes is one day closer to the time of his return. God says that they who are found ready and waiting will be blessed when Christ comes.
Many are waiting, and passionately desiring to see him come. Many know that the greatest day in all history will be when the Lord comes in power and glory. And everyone will see him! Many pray every day that the moment will come soon. And what about us? Do we want him to return?
Well, of course, I know that all who have believed in him desire his return, but does the way we live show it? We enjoy talking about the signs of the times and the prophecies; we like to read the word of God where it says he will come soon. But perhaps, while we wait, we are gathering treasures on the earth as if he was never coming back. We bicker with our brothers, as if he was never coming back. We stop sharing the Gospel with the lost, as if he was never coming back. We are selfish and materialistic, hoping he will take a good long time to return.
How will he find us when he comes? The best way to know if we are doing what we should be doing, or not, is to respond to this question: If you knew that Jesus was going to return in a few hours, would you continue doing what you are doing at the moment? If not, you are not ready and waiting. It's still not too late. We can still seek the glory of God and teach the people around us that they too should look toward heaven. Christ is coming back. Maybe he'll come TODAY!
