Christians in Morocco have formed a group to coordinate their response. In the area around Marrakesh, they focus on assisting looking for survivors under the rubble and help “families who have suffered losses”.
Despite difficult weather conditions, Christian ministries and individuals have traveled to the earthquake area. The Turkish Evangelical Alliance and other groups are channeling donations.
It is the first increase in the last 20 years, says the UN. The conflict in Ukraine is further aggravating the situation.
“We admit anyone who knock on our door”, says the pastor of the church, which has fed 37,000 families since the start of the pandemic.
As the war in Ukraine continues, local pastors on the frontlines are putting their faith into action. Vyacheslav Balagura (Donetsk Regional Church of God Pastor) and Peter Dudnyk (Church of God Missionary Coordinator for Ukraine union) share about their work. OM teams work with several churches in the cities of Odessa, Rivne, Vinnitsa, and Kaharlyk.
Fear of the coronavirus has also come to the Moria refugee camp in Lesbos (Greece), prompting several Christian organizations to take steps to protect the nearly 20,000 people crowded into the camp.
Christian Aid took action after two sexual misconduct cases were reported in 2017. Organisations under suspicion could lose European Union funds.
A Christian organisation working with children in the region: “Pray that God protects us and gives us wisdom to understand how we can be useful in times like these.”
Ministries and churches attended a special summit five days after the tragedy. 40 organisations aggree to “coordinate the efforts in order to bring together into a single stream the various initiatives.”
