Violence keeps escalating despite the pleas of evangelical leaders who denounce lack of effort by the Nigerian government to free church members.

Fulani herdsmen have increasingly adopted ideology and methods similar to Islamic extremist groups like Boko Haram. The kidnapped girls are forcefully converted to Islam and married off.

Fulani herdsmen attacked a village, burned the a Baptist church, killed a man and abducted seven Christians.

“All the community members, mainly Christians, have all fled. Please pray for God’s intervention”, All Africa Baptist Fellowship said.

Days before, Islamic extremist militants had executed five men “as warning to Christians”. Over 50 Christians have been slained since June 12.

The Association of Evangelicals in Africa releases a statement after a well-known Nigerian Christian leader and his family were brutally attacked.

Africa has become “an easy prey, because of its vulnerability and the abiding Western interest in the region”, says the Secretary General of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA).

Armed herdsmen stormed the community and shot indiscriminately into houses, forcing residents to flee into bushes surrounding the village.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen killed several Christians, kidnapped 19 and burned at least 12 houses throughout Nigeria in May.

Analysts have detected ties between Muslim Fulani herdsmen and Islamic extremist groups.

Christian leaders file suit alleging 1,000 people killed in the past three years. “The affected Christian communities have been completely overwhelmed and are now desolate and devastated”.

Up to 50 Christian schools and hospitals have been affected, and the military has kidnapped four churches. “We need peace and the UN intervention”, a Cameroonian Christian says.

An Assemblies of God Nigeria pastor, his wife and son were among were among the victims. There has been incessant attacks on Christians in the state by armed Fulani herdsmen.

Fulani militants gunmen attacked Christian carollers while they were singing in a church of Southern Kaduna, Nigeria. Ten are still injured.

Salama Baptist Church in Ancha lost 19 of its members in the massacre, nine children. “We found that those killed were from three households”, a survivor said.

Besides the killings, hundreds of Christians have been displaced. Houses, worship centers and crops that were ready for harvest have all been destroyed.

About 1,600 died in Boko Haram attacks in the last four months. “Insurgency has not only succeeded in killing, injuring and displacing people, but have worsened distrust among people of different faiths”
