    Luca Illiano

    Artists in Naples (Italy).

It was only in 1998 that I took pencil in hand and never let go! I began to use the pencil to express myself, communicate and tell the world around me through my drawings. In fact, in the same year, I began my studies at the Naples Art School after a love at first sight with the works of Escher. After high school, I continued my studies by attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. At the end of my studies, I stayed in Naples (the city where I was born) to work as a commissioned interior designer. A good 10 years after the first day of art school, in July 2008, I collected my drawings and with a one-way flight I moved to England to a small town near London called St. Albans. There I started my artistic career by exhibiting my drawings in London, Aldgate East. It was in London that I pursued my artistic research on the transience of life. Around February 2009 this research helped me to think about the theme of life and what is afterwards, leading me to Scotland to pursue a certificate in Christian Theology followed by another certificate in Theology in Bristol. These two educational paths contributed even more to my artistic research. After my studies in theology, I returned to St. Albans. In September 2013, I moved back to Naples where I later got married and currently work in the field of contemporary art. In the meantime, I also pursue some of my studies in Christian theology, often combining them with contemporary art.
