In Germany, Franklin Graham emphasised the power of the gospel to change history. The European Congress on Evangelism began with more than 1,000 participants from 55 countries across the continent.
The European Congress on Evangelism is taking place since this Tuesday in Berlin with the goal of strengthening evangelism in Europe.
The aim of the gathering oarganised by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is “that the gospel be proclaimed with clarity and courage, because what Europe needs is Jesus Christ and his gospel”, expressed Franklin Graham in a press conference before the beginning of the general program.
At 73 years of age, Franklin Graham is a well-known evangelist in many parts of the world, and has been leading the organisation that bears his father's name since 2001.
His son Will, who accompanied him in the first meeting with the press, is also an evangelist and has led several campaigns since 2006. Both have shared the gospel message with millions of people in this century and want to follow in the wake of their predecessor, taking this message “to the ends of the earth”.
The program includes preaching, Bible studies and also workshops in different areas, with a clear emphasis on the proclamation of the gospel, they told the media.
“We want everyone to find the gospel, to see its true power”, underlined Will Graham, Billy Graham's grandson, who is involved in the organisation's worldwide preaching and discipleship work.

Will Graham expressed his joy because “there are signs of growth” among the younger generations. The organisers hope that this conference will be an even greater impulse for the gospel to be presented in a clear and relevant way.
“I would encourage churches on the importance of encouraging young people to study the Scriptures together”, pointed out Franklin Graham.
He also called on churches to “take the headlines of the iPhone, see what does the Bible has to say about that issue and teach them the Word of God”.
This “passion for the Word” is key to “real growth” in the church and social change, they said.
Franklin Graham lamented that “older generations have tryed to soften” the message of the gospel, “not talking about the cross or the blood of Christ”. “The world has changed a lot, but the need to accept the gospel is still urgent”, he added.
In answers to questions, Franklin Graham also addressed his personal relationship with US president Donald Trump and his hopes about and end to the war in Ukraine.

With all that in mind, the congress connects directly with an important part of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association's activity, which is the strengthening and training of evangelical leaders.
Historic events such as the Berlin Congress in 1966 were a turning point for the development of evangelism on a global level. Several congresses were also held in Amsterdam, the last one 25 years ago.
