European Dignity Watch, an organisation based in Brussels, organised in November the European Advocacy Academy, an international political training event.

The gathering focused on effective campaigning – from a political, civil society, and media point of view.

Twenty-eight leaders from 17 countries who advocate for the family and life articipated in the training to be better equipped to effectively manage campaigns on these matters.

“By the end of the training, they had acquired the knowledge and tools needed to increase their effectiveness and have more of an impact in public debates and policy-making”, the organisation said. “They also became part of an international network that transcends country borders”.

“The programme provided both substantive formation on the issues and practical training to develop the skills needed to increase their influence”. The training’s 8 lectures and 5 workshops were led or facilitated by a slate of international speakers, including Zeljka Markic, President of ‘In the Name of the Family’ in Croatia, Ron Nehring, and Mark Campbell of International Training at the Leadership Institute (USA), Andreas Thonhauser, of ADF International in Austria and Ignacio Arsuaga, of CitizenGO in Spain.

“I got a lot of information and acquired knowledge to enter into the public sphere in my country... with more confidence”, Vesna Radeka, a participant from Serbia said.

The next European Advocacy Academy will take place in 10-13 April 2018 and will focus on communication.
