German police detain four men and shut down a dark web platform that had over 400,000 users from around the world.
A huge platform dedicated to sexual abuse of children in the so-called ‘dark net’ (internet sites that are hidden from search engines) has been closed.
After months of investigations, the police in Germany has detained 4 men as main coordinators of an online network that shared sexual images of minors. Over 400,000 internet registered members from across the world accessed these criminal contents, German authorities said.
The major police action was coordinated with European police Europol and authorities from Netherlands, the US, Sweden, Canada and Australia.
According to a press released quoted by German news website Deutsche Welle, graphic material included “of the most serious sexual abuse of young children”. Users event had received advice from the platform coordinators about how to avoid detection.
After the raids, the police was able to take down the websites and several chat channels were users shared information about child pornography materials.
