The website Bible Gateway has made a research, based on over 1.7 billion pageviews and over 180 million unique visitors to the page from December 2015 through November 2016. It provides a glimpse at how people engaged with the Bible in 2016.

According to this research, the ten most popular Bible verses of this year are:
1. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16.
