What an incredible gathering it was! From October 8 to 12, 2025, the Hotel Rubin in Budapest buzzed with great joy and anticipation as 70 remarkable women from 22 countries converged for the Hope for Europe – Women in Leadership Conference.

Ranging in age from 17 to 78, many meeting for the first time since previous events, these inspiring participants dove headfirst into the theme: “Growing in Courage and Competence.”

Lively discussions around the tables set the tone for a transformative experience that left everyone energized and empowered.

The conference featured powerful Bible studies that brought timeless truths to life, showcasing biblical examples of courage and competence.

We were blessed by insights from Connie Main Duarte from Portugal, leader of the Evangelical Alliance in Europe; Dr. Kristina Ecis from Latvia, Academic Dean of the Latvian Bible Center; Christine Büchi from Switzerland, with Moms in Prayer; and Dr. Viktoria Kulscar from Romania, a psychologist and coach.

These sessions ignited our spirits and equipped us with practical wisdom for leadership.

Additional keynote talks further fueled our growth: Gerlind Ammon Schad from OJC in Germany explored the vital theme of intergenerational unity; Jolanda Nooteboom from xpand in Holland shared strategies for growing in competence; and Dr. Jenn Williamson from MissionNexus in France delved into the Cycle of Deeds and the Cycle of Grace.

Guiding us through thought-provoking panel discussions was Julia Doxat Purser, EEA’s socio-political representative and coordinator for religious freedom, alongside Connie Main Duarte and Amanda Jackson, Senior Advisor on Diversity for the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA).

A highlight was the heartfelt prayer evening, where older women prayed over the younger participants, followed by the younger ones returning the blessing—a beautiful symbol of mutual encouragement and solidarity.

Of course, no trip to Budapest would be complete without exploring the vibrant city center! We ventured out using public transport and covered many kilometers on foot, creating unforgettable memories and fostering deeper connections.

Thanks to the generous support from individuals and organizations, we were able to provide financial assistance to many women from Eastern European countries, ensuring broad participation.

The conference’s unique finale truly embodied our spirit of inclusion: On the last day, we welcomed about 130 Hungarian-speaking women from Romania, Serbia, Ukraine, Slovakia, and Hungary. Together, we enjoyed a colorful program filled with relaxation, inspiration, and mutual upliftment.

As the event drew to a close, the air was filled with excitement for the future. Many parted with enthusiastic words: “See you in two years at the next Hope for Europe – Women in Leadership Conference!”

This gathering wasn’t just an event—it was a catalyst for lasting change, reminding us all of the power of faith-filled women leading with courage and competence across Europe.
