We believe that reporting on all kind of current affairs from a Christian perspective is not only useful, but necessary.
For the Evangelical Focus team, 8 January has become a day to stop and look back with gratitude.
It was on that day in 2015 that we first launched this medium for Europe, specifically from Spain, where the core team is based. At that time, the vast majority of authors and readers who now accompany us were not yet part of this platform, and we knew the continent of which we are a part much less than we do now.
The principles that pushed us to start this journalistic project seven years ago continue to shape our work today. We want to help build bridges between church and society, to give a voice to people in Europe who have good biblical perspectives and to do journalism that serves God's mission.
Last year, we have had over 48,000 monthly visits to our site (for a total number of 581,560 in 2021), and our readers even improved the record numbers of 2020 in certain months. Other statistics tell us that those who visit us spend more time reading our contents and return to our site more often. Check out 2021’s most read articles and best interviews.
In biblical terms, completing a seventh year automatically brings to mind the Jubilee described in the Old Testament. A time to rethink rest, remember our dependence on God and the importance of building personal relationships. As the Evangelical Alliances of Europe propose for this year’s Week of Prayer, we realise the importance of holding on to the “rhythm of God”, which contrasts with the unrestrained rhythms of our digitalised and consumer-oriented society.
Europe continues to walk in uncertainty and a worrying crisis of trust. In this context, Christians are even more aware of the enormous privilege of looking to God and knowing that our lives are in his hands, and the events of the future under his sovereignty.
We believe that reporting on all kind of current issues from a Christian perspective is not only useful, but necessary.
