The Republican candidate gets a clear victory over Kamala Harris.
The former president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, will return to the White House in what will be his second term at the head of the North American country.
The Republican candidate has secured the necessary electoral votes ( exceeding 270 by far) and has also obtained a majority of direct votes.
In addition to Trump's triumph, there is the backing of a Senate where the Republicans will have a majority.
The already established conservative majority in the Supreme Court presents a panorama of broad institutional support for the political project that Trump promises to lead, supported by vice-president JD Vance.
In recent weeks, the Republican candidate sought to strengthen his ties with evangelical voters, attending several meetings with pastors and representatives of evangelical entities in the United States.
In the midst of a cultural battle, with issues such as abortion restrictions becoming a major part of the public debate, Trump tried to align himself with pro-life tendencies and rally support for the traditional family.
Polls showed Trump as the favourite among white evangelicals (82%) and Catholics (61%).
During the campaign, Trump received the explicit support of several evangelical leaders who recalled that he kept his promise to appoint conservative judges to the Supreme Court, allowing the development of a more restrictive legislation on abortion in many states.
Other evangelical voters chose Trump without as much sympathy, but as an explicit rejection of the policies developed by the Biden and Kamala Harris administration in other areas that deal with sensitive issues, such as gender transition support policies or the impulse of gender ideology in education.
Many analysts point out that the victory of Donald Trump is part of a trend of a general growth of conservatives who, under personalistic leadership figures, are taking advantage of the media power of social media to connect with voters.
The stance the new US administration takes on international policy issues is also of great interest.
The wars in Ukraine and Israel, international relations with China and Russia, and the role of NATO will be some of the key global issues.
