Luis Enrique Camarena received the recognition from the government for “being a bridge between the state and the church to foster constructive dialogues that resolve conflicts”.
The evangelical chaplain Luis Enrique Camarena, director of the parliamentary chaplaincy division of the Professional School of Chaplaincy, was named “Messenger of Peace” at the national palace of Guatemala, in recognition of his valuable contribution to social, cultural and spiritual well-being for 25 years.
The ceremony was attended by over a hundred guests including some of the authorities of the country such as attorney general and head of the Public Ministry, María Porras Argueta and the deputy ministers of Education and Culture.
Porras Argueta stressed that “Camarena is an example of what it means to serve God and society with love, dedication and commitment. His work as a theologian, peace promoter and leader has had a positive impact on the country, as well as providing spiritual and emotional support to civil servants and people working in social care institutions”.
“As a chaplain, he has accompanied people in their last moments of life to achieve inner peace and has been a bridge between the state and the church to foster constructive dialogues that resolve conflicts”, added the attorney general.
Camarena is also the national president of the Christian Ministerial Coalition of Guatemala, legal representative of the evangelical parliament of Guatemala and apostle of Kairos International Mission.
The deputy minister of culture pointed out that Camarena, in addition to his impressive negotiating skills, also promoted love for the country and “created programs based on faith, the arts and mental health to get people out of depression, vice and crime. He also leads churches in Guatemala, Central and South America”.
