Marcus Lamb, co-founder of a US satellite broadcaster that reaches millions worldwide, was an outspoken sceptic of Covid-19 vaccines.
Daystar, a well-known Christian TV network based in the United States, announced on 30 November the death of its co-founder and CEO, Marcus D. Lamb.
The 64-year old televangelist passed away after two weeks of hospitalization. His wife Toni had earlier shared with the channel’s audience that he had “the COVID pneumonia”.
“As we remember this Great General of the Faith, let us never forget his devotion to the Great Commission”, Daystar said in a statement. “His heart's passion was that all may come to know Jesus as Lord and Saviour and experience the transformational power of the Holy Spirit”.
Marcus Lamb had been an outspoken sceptic of Covid-19 vaccines, and often promoted controversial alternative treatments to the disease. In a newsletter to donnors, he presented Daystar as “the only Christian TV Network that has made continuous efforts to warn you about the dangers of the COVID-19 ‘Vaccine’ and to help you with the truth”, reports Christianity Today.
Daystar, described by some as a health and wealth prosperity gospel ministry, was founded in 1997 and reaches over 100 million households in the US and 2 billion viewers in the rest of the world, according to data of the tv network.
Its mission statement says it aims to “reach souls with the Good News of Jesus Christ” by “producing and providing quality television that will reach our viewers, refresh their lives and renew their hearts”.
A large number of well-known church leaders in the United States who knew Marcus Lamb and had contributed to one of Daystar’s tv shows expressed their grieve, prayers and support for his family, including Franklin Graham, Greg Laurie, Samuel Rodríguez and Robert Morris.
Nearly 800,000 people have died in the United States because of Covid-19. Around 60% of the population has been fully vaccinated.
