The European meeting was held in Madrid, with the presence of local authorities and a variety of plenary sessions and round tables on current issues.
The European Parliament & Faith convention took place from 20-22 May in Madrid under the theme “expanding the vision”.
The inauguration was held at the headquarters of the regional government, which was attended by nearly one hundred people, including local and regional authorities, as well as Parliament & Faith delegates from different countries, ambassadors and several authorities.
José Antonio Sánchez Serrano, as host and regional vice-minister of the presidency of Madrid, was the first to greet the audience.
He stressed that the public sphere must defend, not only religious freedom, but also the presence of transcendence and Christian values in the public arena.
The secretary general of the Evangelical Council of Madrid, Manuel Cerezo, Henry Svensson, president of Parliament & Faith Europe, and Luciano Bongarrá, founder 15 years ago and president of Parliament & Faith International, which is now represented in 65 countries, also addressed the audience.
Bongarrá underlined the need to look at the person rather than the politician, without partisan prejudices and understanding that the message of Jesus must also reach them, as they also have personal and family problems, which need the liberation that only Jesus can give.
The flamenco-gospel duo Juan Ramón and Rocío closed the event.
The rest of the convention took place on 21 and 22 May at a hotel in Madrid, with plenaries on such diverse topics as Replacement theory, based on Daniel 7:25 on discerning the times and laws; Caring for people in politics and The power of prayer: intercessors in politics.
Other topics covered in the plenaries were Foundations of society, about what are the biblical principles of politics according to God to help a nation to thrive; and Reaching the unreached.
