Clothes to promote ‘gender fluidity’ among children

Popular department stores company put an end to ‘boys’ and ‘girls’ sections. Parents challenge the implementation of LGBT policies in primary schools.

LGBT groups promoting the idea of ‘gender fluidity’ celebrate new victories as some companies and schools are supporting their alternative views on gender.

Well-known company department store John Lewis announced last week it will get rid of ‘boys’ and ‘girls’ sections. Clothes for children from 0-14 years will no longer have gender specific labels. Skirts and dresses, among other items, will now be labelled both for boys and girls.

The company said they “do not want to reinforce gender stereotypes (…) and instead want to provide greater choice and variety to our customers, so that the parent or child can choose what they would like to wear”.

The move has received criticism on social media, with parents calling this change “ridiculous” and “political correct nonsense”. A columnist of The Daily Telegraph said John Lewis “is so intent on pandering to pressure groups it has lost sight of what its loyal customer base wants”.

NEW GENDER NEUTRAL UNFORMS IN SECONDARY SCHOOL

Meanwhile, a secondary school in East Sussex (South East England) has introduced gender neutral uniforms to make sure that transgender pupils feel included, newspaper The Guardian reported.

Both male and female students will wear the same uniform. “From September 2017, all new students will be required to wear our updated uniform. This uniform has been designed specifically in response to the many issues and suggestions raised by parents, students and school staff”, the school said.

The head teacher explained that it “specifically addresses the current issues of inequality and decency. We hope that it will provide a smart, comfortable and affordable alternative to the current uniform.” Another issue was that “we have a small but increasing number of transgender students and therefore having the same uniform is important for them.”

Mermaids UK, a LGBT group promoting gender ideology, welcomed the initiative because it “recognises that children and young people are disclosing in increasing numbers degrees of gender variance”.

PARENTS CHALLENGE TRANSGENDER POLICIES OF ANGLICAN SCHOOL

Another school has been in the news this week. Parents will challenge a Church of England primary school after the centre allowed boys to wear dresses in the classroom.

“Our concerns were raised when our son came back home from school saying he was confused as to why and how a boy was now a girl”, the father said.

“We believe it is wrong to encourage very young children to embrace transgenderism,” the father said. “Boys are boys and girls are girls. Gender dysphoria is something we as Christians need to address with love and compassion, but not in the sphere of a primary school environment.”

This primary school has said it has an “anti-transphobia policy” which will not be changed. The lawyer of the family announced they will take the Diocese of Portsmouth to court arguing that it has not respected their rights to raise their children with biblical values, Premier reported.
