I went to see them every day that week. It became a time of spiritual renewal for me. They had a number of fairly precise messages from God for me, mostly in the form of Bible verses; I particularly remember this one:
– Alain, you are like a little light nestled next to my heart...
And they prayed frequently for me...
At that time, I had no idea of how God could use me (I wasn’t writing comics yet). But I did understand that He had something special in store for me...
That week could have been awful, but instead it was a key time in my life. On the last day, I told them I’d like to stay in touch but instead of giving me a telephone number, they left me puzzled because their final words were:
– ‘When you want to see us again, ask Jesus.’
Lost sight of them

Could they have been angels?
JB
By the way, the objectionable JB became a Christian, but remained as quirky as ever (some friends of mine who he ‘just happened’ to meet after he returned from the camp had been able to connect with his hitherto untameable heart).
I was good friends with him for a while before losing touch with him. I’m not really sure what became of him afterwards...
Many years later, I met a Godly old white-haired man. I saw something of Jesus in his eyes (there was a pure light in them, like an innocent child, humility, yet at the same time they seemed to be able to look right into my soul...).
On the off-chance, I asked him if he’d ever met these ladies. He said he had, but that they had moved on… but he couldn’t tell me any more than that... (?)
Fast forward 20 years
What a journey...I have been writing comics for years now. I meet more and more people who tell me that reading my comics was the catalyst in their decision to follow God. As the influence of my comics grows, together with all the challenges this brings, ‘my’ little prayer team told me:
– There need to be more of us...
I was walking in the forest, taking in this latest idea; that was when I remembered the two ‘angels’ of Yverdon...
- Jesus, would you please let me see them again?
10 days later
They turn up at my front door!
– Hello, Jesus asked us to drop by.
It took a while for us to recognize one another, but something in their expressions intrigued me and then suddenly ‘bam’!
They told me that they had spent a long time in a spiritual desert...and that now they were here to offer their support in prayer…
