Experienced Christian leaders will lead free online sessions on topics like discipleship, science or reliability of the Bible. The Forum of Christian Leaders hopes many will “join the global conversation”.

Young evangelical leaders from around the world brought together by the Lausanne Movement, shared eight days in Jakarta (Indonesia). Thinkers like Os Guiness, Ravi Zacharias or Anne Zaki were part of a meeting in which participants from 150 countries talked face to face and initiated projects.

So as we look to the future, what should govern our aspirations? Perhaps Jesus’ models of salt and light in Matthew 5:13-16 could give us a framework.

The challenge for us is to set aside time to worship the Lord and seek specific prophetic blessings for our children and grandchildren – and for our spiritual children.

The center has chaplains and prayer spaces, representing Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Judaism.

We are to forgive first, then either we can bear with, or we need to approach and proactively address the situation.

I will never be more influential than when I succeed in helping people be reconciled with each other, with their situation, and ultimately with God.

“I see a generation that is humble to build on the wisdom of previous generations, but also bold enough to contextualize it and come up with new initiatives for global mission”, says Sarah Breuel, Chair of the Lausanne Movement Younger Leaders Gathering 2016. 

The event featured over 40 speakers from evangelical, Catholic and other backgrounds. It shut down five hours earlier, due to the high heat index.

About 600 participants worshipped God together and reflected on the mission in Europe. Working groups were started in several areas.

“Interdependence is a Christian principle, it’s good to learn from what is happening across Europe”, says video artist John Lumgair.

What has the Bible to say about Christians marrying non-Christians?

There is “a real appetite for the Bible and for training to communicate it more effectively”, believes Peter Mead.

Thomas Bucher believes the website “offers a much needed voice, having a certain independence and yet committed to Evangelical values.”

“In no way are we trying to minimize the large doctrinal differences of times past”, organiser Nick Hall tells Evangelical Focus. 1 million Christians from diverse Christian backgrounds are expected to participate.

The danger of deciding on the basis of narrow personal or national self-interest is to overlook a whole range of possible consequences to the other parties in this set of relationships – which could then rebound on us.
