Speaking in Wittenberg on 31 October, the German Chancellor said the Reformation anniversary is “a great opportunity to strengthen the awareness about the Christian roots in our society”.

In Wittenberg, the WCRC signed the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification (1999). 

The German city is ready for “Gates of Freedom”, 16 weeks of events which could attract 500,000 visitors.
