A Christian who has worked in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with an international organisation says these kind of abuses are “a common practice in countries where there is impunity, and a rape and sexual exploitation culture”.

During the 45th session of the UN Human Rights Council, the WEA calls on Zimbabwean government “to address the causes of the country crisis, [...] to prevent violations of fundamental rights”.

Fear of the coronavirus has also come to the Moria refugee camp in Lesbos (Greece), prompting several Christian organizations to take steps to protect the nearly 20,000 people crowded into the camp.

Young Christians gathered at Madrid’s central square Sol to denounce human trafficking. A flashmob highlighted the work of three evangelical NGOs which support women who escape sexual slavery in Spain.

“Belief-based intolerance and discrimination of refugees is a pan-European problem”, Christian organisations said during a hearing at the European Parliament.

The EEA joins other 160 civil society organisations in demanding “statesmanship that stands up for humanity and dignity and that addresses people’s fears, instead of fuelling them.”

The response of the European Churches to climate change, as with all environmental issues, has been patchy, but there are signs that this is beginning to change.

“Haitian believers will someday be the channel through which God will restore this country”. Miqueas Forster (GAiN Spain) just returned from a humanitarian trip to the country.

Hundreds have become homeless after the blaze, about 800 sleeping spaces were destroyed. “We are here because of love for them”, Chistian volunteers said.

Riots caused a massive fire in the camp of Moria (4,000 refugees), many tents and prefabricated houses were burnt. Members of NGO Remar: “The situation is chaotic. Most refugees will not have a place to sleep in the next days”.
