Wisla in Poland was a hustle and bustle of conversations fostered by the extensive programme of the European Leadership Forum conference. These were the highlights from our point of view.

“Smuggling Jesus back into the Church: How the Church became worldly and what to do about it” will be the Forum of Christian Leaders final master class of this season.

A free three-hour online session organised by the Forum of Christian Leaders will look at Jesus Christ’s teaching techniques.

In an online event organised by the FOCL, the Italian evangelical theologian will address issues such as the doctrines of the Catholic Church and the influence of Pope Francis.

Psychologist Diane Langberg will address the theme “Redeeming power: understanding authority and abuse in the church” in an online event hosted by the Forum of Christian Leaders.

In autumn, Peter J. Williams, Bobb Biehl and Dave Patty will lead 3-hour long free sessions. The ELF seeks to unite, equip, and resource evangelical leaders to renew the biblical church and evangelise Europe.

Roxana Stanciu (CARE) analyses hate speech and how can Christians respond to it. “Christians should be ready to be offended and to engage in meaningful conversations”.

Dave Patty shares about the notion of parenting children on God’s behalf.

“Prayer is like a fire. One spark that someone prays should ignite a passion in someone else”. Mike Betts leads the network of churches Relational Mission.

“I can understand why people are cautious about higher education, but we need to understand that education in itself is not the danger”, says Daryl McCarthy.

Terry English, of youth ministry Josiah Venture, says discipling young people is “walking alongside them, helping them understand that their faith is about a relationship with Christ”.

“There is no biblical reason for the imposition of celibacy as the status of pastors or priests”, says Vatican expert and evangelical theologian Leonardo De Chirico.

“It is not just pastors who do ministry. When the saints are doing the ministry too, the Body of Christ is build up and grows towards maturity in the faith”, says Greg Ogden, Chairman Global Discipleship Initiative.

“The problem of the term is that it seems to suggest a unified translation of the Old Testament”, says researcher Peter J. Williams of Tyndale House (Cambridge).

David Glass, Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at Ulster University (Northern Ireland) analyses whether a computer can have emotions or a conscious experience.

“As Christians today, we live in a Babylon of our own, but we can be morally distinctive and obedient to Christ”, Peter Saunders, CEO Christian Medical Fellowship, says.

The 2020 Forum’s morning Bible teacher will be Peter Mead. Over 850 participants are expected to attend the conference in Poland.
