In France, there is one evangelical church for every 25,000 citizens. This is what the latest statistics of the CNEF (National Council of Evangelical Christians) reveal.
According to the Les Églises Protestants Évangéliques en France 2023 report, the country has over 2,700 evangelical worship places. This figure does not include evangelical groups meeting in homes or other informal settings.
[photo_footer] The regional Departments of France, according to the number of evangelical worship places. / CNEF [/photo_footer] The departments (regions) with most evangelical churches are Seine-Saint Denis, Paris, Nord, Bouches-du-Rhone, and the French territories of Guyane and Martinique, all of them with over 70 registered worship places.
Most regional departments of the country have less than 0.4 churches for every 10,000 people. Having at least one evangelical church for every 10,000 citizens is the next aim of the members of the CNEF, the body representing evangelicals in France.
In total numbers, there are at least 745,000 evangelical Christians who are active in their faith and attend a church regularly.
In 1950, the statistics said there were only 50,000, this means that there has been a 15-fold growth in the last 70 years.

The largest evangelical denomination in France is Assemblées de Dieu de France (Assemblies of God, with 350 churches), followed by the Mission évangélique des tziganes de France (ethnic Roma churches, 222), the Communautés et assemblées évangéliques de France (117) and the Fédération des Églises évangéliques baptistes de France (Baptist Federation, 115).
Around 70% of the churches who belong to a denominational group or federation are members of the CNEF, which represents evangelical Christians on a national scale and in the World Evangelical Alliance.
