A fifty-page report summarises key trends in Europe. Jim Memory’s work frames the context for Christian mission with the insights of analysts from all over the continent.
“Europe 2021: A Missiological Report” is a fifty-page document that seeks to address the major trends in Europe that are shaping the context for Christian mission in the continent.
Published in July 2021 and made available for free download on the website of the Vista Journal, the report has been authored by missiologist Jim Memory, who is Member of the International Leadership Team of the European Christian Mission, lecturer in European Mission at All Nations Christian College, and part of the planning team of Lausanne Europe 20/21.
Based on his own research and the insights of many Christians from across Europe, the report seeks to identify “the crucial issues and trends which are shaping the context for Christian mission in Europe today”, the author explains.
“It provides an analysis of the key political, economic, social, environmental, and technological trends; of the most important spiritual challenges; and of the shifts in mission thinking that are impacting the practice of Christian mission today. And in every case, it considers how the Covid-19 has impacted these trends”.
Europe is a complex continent, Memory admits. “We need to look for the big issues which all European cultures are wrestling with, but also remember to look for the differences from region to region, country to country, and locality to locality”.
The author encourages everyone who is passionate about mission in Europe to “read and reflect on the contents and share widely within your networks”.
