A Christian youth academy in Germany offers prizes to the nicest churches built using the popular video game.
Many children and teenagers have spent unusual time at home in the last weeks, as the Covid-19 crisis led to confinements of the population in many countries.
The Erbacher Hof Catholic academy and training centre in Mainz (Germany) has organised a contest which will give 200 Euro to the person or team of maximum three people who build the most beautiful church building using the popular computer game Minecraft.
“It can be futuristic or stone-old, no limits are put to your architectural creativity”, the website says.
The rules are that the church building needs to have a “maximum ground of 100 x 100 blocks”. It should not copy the design of an already existing church in real life, and it can be made using the “creative mode” of the game.
The deadline to send (via email) seven screenshots of the construction is 31 May 2020, and the winners will be announced in July.
More information about the contest can be found here (German).
