The new adaptation of Lew Wallace's novel, focuses more on the impact Jesus Christ made on the fictional character Ben-Hur
“Ben-Hur”, based on Lew Wallace's 1880 novel "Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ", is one of the most famous historic movies.
There have been several film adaptations, including the one of 1959, starring Charlton Heston., which won 11 Academy Awards.
The 2016 version official premiere will be August 19, directed by Timur Bekmambetov with a screenplay by Keith Clarke and John Ridley.
NEW TRAILER
A new trailer has been released. It features the lead character Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his own adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebell), who is a Roman army officer.
Ben-Hur is then exiled as a slave. On his journey back to Jerusalem Ben-Hur has several encounters with Jesus (Rodrigo Santoro).
The trailer begins with the scripture found in Jeremiah 40:4 that states, "Now, behold, I release you today from the chains on your hands."
RELEASE DATES
MGM and Paramount delayed the release this year from February to August. The film will be first released on August 10 in Belgium and France, although the official premier will be on August 19 in the United States.
