“The right to kill cannot become a supra-legislative rule, a constitutional right”, said organisers of the march for life.

This year the theme of the march was '10 million too many', a reference to the number of abortions carried out in the UK since the approval of the Abortion Act in 1967.

There were 107 legal abortions in 2021, 90% less than the previous year. “The biggest problem now is illegal abortions using pills”, pro-life groups warn.

The peaceful demonstration was often disrupted by aggressive counter-protests. Christians also denounced that “the distorted portrayal of the event by some media was sobering”.

The facilities of the Swiss Evangelical Alliance and two pro-life associations were vandalised ahead of the March For Life. There have been many similar incidents in the country in recent years.

Prior to the march itself, a ‘LifeFest 21’ event took place, with testimonies, children activities and workshops.

The European Evangelical Alliance had called to reject the report: “Abortion is about the life of the woman but also about the life of the unborn child. Both lives matter”.

The country with more abortions is France (224,000). England and Wales reached their highest figures. Germany and Spain increased the number of abortions below 2%.

Catholics, evangelicals and members of other faiths attended the march. “Christians should stand up for those who are weakest and have no voice”. Police had to protect the event from a violent counter-demonstration.

The President of the Italian Evangelical Alliance: “Religious freedom and the family are necessary values for a peaceful coexistence”.

The official figure of the government is 100,986 abortions in 2018. Criminal or medical indications were the cause of only 4% of the abortions.

“Every individual has the fundamental right to choose to have an abortion”, the Reproductive Health Act says. Pro-life groups denounce it is “an extreme Bill”.

“The psychological fallout from medical abortions completed at home can be severe”, Philippa Taylor of the Christian Medical Fellowship says.

A pastor in Neuquén had to be protected by the police after a conference. An NGO denounces the “slander and abuses” of the Green Kerchief activists.

There were 38 votes against the Bill, 31 in favor, and 2 abstentions. The Bill cannot be presented again this year, but it will be a key issue in the 2019 presidential election campaign.

“Human life begins at conception and to destroy a human embryo means impeding the birth of a human being”, Argentinian Academy of Medicine says in a statement.

With 129 votes in favour, 125 against and only one abstention. The Bill will now have to go to the Senate to be fully approved.

In the referendum, 66% voted in favor of repealing the Eighth Amendment. Evangelicals and other groups of society will continue to defend the protection of unborn children as a Human Rights issue.

“Choice is important and to be cherished, but we also have an obligation to protect those who are powerless and unable to make choices that directly affect their futures”, the Evangelical Alliance Ireland says.

It would be naive in the extreme to remove the most important human right of all – the right to life – from the Constitution and to put it in the hands of career politicians.

Google announced on May 9th that it would ban all advertising related to the Irish abortion referendum from its platforms.
