Spain is to set up an app to limit access to pornography, but experts see loopholes. “We have to change the culture from the bottom up”, says a Christian leader.

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez seeks a national agreement to stop the “epidemic”. Spain is the EU country with highest consumption of porn among minors. Evangelical groups have long called for this issue to be addressed.

Nine websites that have no age verification systems have been blocked. By age 12, nearly a third have already been exposed to such contents.

French evangelicals welcome the motion. “It constitutes an urgent first step in the face of an inescapable challenge for our society”.

Pornography websites could be fined up to 10% of their annual turnover or be blocked. Christian associations welcome “a significant, but long overdue step in the right direction”.

A resolution of the Council of 47 European countries recommends to focus on sexual education, online protection and security, and strong regulation.

Two children's associations are suing France's leading internet providers. 1 out of 3 French 12-year-olds has been exposed to pornography.

“We do not take a 13-year-old boy to a sex-shop, not anything goes in the digital world”, French President Emmanuel Macron said in a speech at UNESCO.

“Mandatory age verification is a world first, we want the UK to be the safest place to be online”, government says. Measure will come into force in July.
