A report shows that forced labour and forced marriage have risen significantly in the last five years, specially among women and children.

The EU said that migration along the West African Atlantic route to the Canary Island is increasing, with “at least 73 boat accidents killing 1,109 migrants” in 2021.

“It is better than the old Moria and other camps”, a Christian aid worker says. “2020 will be a record low for refugee resettlement”, the UNHCR warns.

“The current focus on returns will not save the asylum system”, says the European Evangelical Alliance representative in Brussels, Arie de Pater. “It is not just about the economy this time, but about people”.

A Christian who has worked in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with an international organisation says these kind of abuses are “a common practice in countries where there is impunity, and a rape and sexual exploitation culture”.

The IOM informs that 206,400 migrants and refugees entered Europe by sea the first 5 months of 2016. Only from May 25 to June 3, 1,457 are dead or missing.

The victims were on two boats attempting to cross the Aegean Sea from Turkey to Greece. Top officials from Denmark, Sweden and Germany will hold talks in Brussels.

Most of the people came via Greece, which took in more than 820,000 people this year. Half of them were Syrians.

According to International Organization for Migration´s data published today, the Central Mediterranean route is the deadliest route for migrants.
