In Valencia, a church confirms its entrance into the Anglican Convocation in Europe – part of the new Global Anglican Communion (Gafcon) – with a visit from Bishop Andy Lines. Pastor Julian Milson explains the reasons for leaving the Spanish Reformed Episcopal Church (IERE).

At the conference held in Abuja (Nigeria), 340 bishops gathered to promote an alternative network of churches. The schism within global Anglicanism becomes a reality: major national churches with conservative theological views no longer recognise Canterbury as a spiritual authority.

Bishop Andy Lines highlighted the growth of an Anglicanism that is focused on mission and a clear commitment to the “unchanging truth of the Holy Scriptures”. The General Meeting of 2026 marked a milestone in the life of the province-in-formation.

The historic Anglican churches in Ireland and Spain say they will not join the Global Anglican Communion. Anglicanism has a limited presence in Europe, with 23 million baptised members.
