The Evangelical Alliance in the Caucasian country was formed in 2019 after conversations around unity, collaboration and advocacy.

The Evangelical Alliance of Georgia, a country at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, is the latest national member to join the European Evangelical Alliance.
Formally established in 2019, the Evangelical Alliance of Georgia was created “following several years of groundwork during which evangelical church leaders met quarterly to draft a common charter and doctrinal foundations”, explains Merab Gaprindashvili, Bishop of the Evangelical Baptist Church of Georgia, one of the founding member churches.
The European Evangelical Alliance equips, connects and represents around 40 National Alliances and other affiliated entities.

The Georgian Evangelical Alliance, which aims to strengthen the minority presence of evangelical Christians, currently brings together eight different churches and church associations. They joined together after “early meetings that served as a forum for dialogue and discernment, focusing on identifying and affirming the shared theological, moral, and ethical foundations uniting evangelical churches across Georgia”.
The objective has been to “promote and strengthen Christian values within society, foster unity among evangelical congregations, and serve as a collaborative platform for addressing significant social and spiritual issues within the country”.
In practice, this involves issuing public statements on matters affecting both the Church and wider society.
In this sense, Merab Gaprindashvili admits that “the Alliance does not yet have a strong public voice within Georgia. Strengthening this voice is one of our key goals—and our partnership with the European Evangelical Alliance plays an essential role in this process”.
For its part, the European Evangelical Alliance said on social media that it was “thrilled” to announce the incorporation of the Georgia Evangelical Alliance as a “milestone” in the Caucasus region.
“This powerful partnership deepens our bonds across the region, amplifying the Gospel's reach and fostering collaboration among believers in the Caucasus and beyond”, added the EEA.
The new membership of the Evangelical Alliance of Georgia has been announced almost in parallel with that of the Evangelical Alliance of Ukraine, which has also just formalised its new membership in the European Evangelical Alliance.
