Hundreds of Christians marched through rainy Prague

Participants walked through the Czech capital. Around 1,000 listened to a presentation of the gospel in the city centre.

On Saturday, 2 August , the third annual Jesus Pochod (Jesus March) took place in Prague, Czech Republic. The date corresponded with marches in Colombia and other countries, mainly in South America.

The event was organised by the associations “Salvation Crew” and Zasáhnout svět (Reaching the World).

Several hundred participants gathered at 4 p.m. near the Prague Castle, where they began the meeting with joint worship led by Jan Krištof.

Peter Kuba, pastor of the Prague Open Church congregation, addressed the gathering, reminding them why they had come together, what they believe in, and why it is important for Christians from different churches to manifest their faith together. Jan Votočka (Open Church) later echoed the idea of unity in diversity in his speech at Old Town Square.

The participants moved on to Klárov, where the next stop was near the seat of Czech government and where the “WeWorship” band was playing. Pastor Ojo Olyainko from the English-speaking RCCG Prague fellowship addressed the participants, proclaiming some biblical truths and encouraging Christians to believe and preach the gospel. His speech would have been more appropriate for a prayer meeting than in a public space.

The march ended at Old Town Square, where a stage had been set up, and at 6:30 p.m. a joint gathering followed with the proclamation of the gospel.

The Altar Echo group gave an excellent performance. British evangelist Daniel Chand, who recently preached at Trafalgar Square, addressed the march participants, tourists, and visitors (while an estimated 500 participants took part in the march, at least 1,000 people could hear part of the program in the square). He explained the gospel briefly and clearly, shared his personal story of conversion, and after calling on people to accept Jesus, he prayed for the sick.

The meeting ended with prayers by the participating pastors for the Czech nation and joint worship. Although the weather was not very favourable this year and the participants got wet several times on their way, the atmosphere was joyful. The last ones eagerly joined in the worship event after 8 p.m.
