The ‘La Place’ event in Paris brought together over two hundred Christian organisations. ‘From words to action’ was the theme of a meeting that addressed all kinds of issues from a biblical perspective.

A large representation of church families and mission organisations gathered in the ‘La Place’ event at the Floral Parc of Paris in a three-day congress displaying the strength and diversity of French evangelicalism.
Around 4,000 people attended the event (one thousand more than expected), in a record breaking gathering organised by the Fondation Oïkonomia and the Centre Évangélique which had the support of six other large evangelical ministries.
As many as 220 organisations and projects were presented in a exposition hall, and some even had separate pavilions with complementary programmes, including an “Arts Village”.
“We French evangelicals have not seen such a strong interdenominational movement since in at least 20 years”, said David Alonso, one of the organisers, according to French magazine Christianisme Aujourdhoui.
[photo_footer] A roundtable on diaspora churches in France. / Photo: La Place. [/photo_footer] Highlights included a first ever forum of diaspora churches in France, a strong focus on youth leaders, and the celebration of 70 years of Portes Ouvertes (Open Doors).
Artists performing in the evenings included Samuel Olivier, Mirella and STR, among others.
Throughout the days, 37 workshops were offered on relevant topics such as the impact of Artificial Intelligence on mission, the persecution of Christians in Africa, parenting, apologetics for young people, sexuality from a Christian perspective, and the challenges of mental health.

“What we’ve seen here is an expression of the body of Christ”, said Étienne Lhermenault, president of Oïkonomia.
Romain Choisnet, communications director of the national Council of Evangelical Christians in France (CNEF) told Evangelical Focus that attendants “realised and experienced the fact that we are one spiritual body, one Church, gathered together, with the diversity of cultures, ministries and gifts that God gives us”.
