About 850 evangelical leaders from more than 30 countries attending a conference in Poland prayed for Manchester in the morning plenary session the day after the attack that killed 22 people and injured 60.

Among the attendants of the European Leadership Forum was Peter J. Saunders, a medical doctor from the United Kingdom and Chief Executive of Christian Medical Fellowship. “We prayed this morning for the situation in Manchester and our thoughts and prayers continue to go out this morning to the people of Manchester – for those who have lost loved ones, for those maimed, injured or deeply traumatised by last night’s tragic events and those members of the emergency services, health services and security services as they work to bring healing and prevent further incidents”, he told Evangelical Focus.

The terrorist attack against teenagers and children in Manchester “is a sobering reminder of how precious but fragile human life is, and a call for Christians to pray, serve, care and comfort those who have been deeply hurt by this tragedy.”

Saunders added: “We also pray for those who have been seduced by the perverse ideology that has led to this terrible violence against innocent people including children, that they will come to their senses, see the truth and turn to Christ.”

“We follow a saviour who faced violence and eventually death in order to bring reconciliation, healing, forgiveness and the promise of new life in a community of people where people bore one another’s burdens.’
