Christians and the referendum

“Your will be done for Britain and Europe”

The European Evangelical Alliance calls to pray for the referendum.

The European Evangelical Alliance (EEA) asks all Christians in Europe to pray for the referendum the United Kingdom will hold on Thursday 23rd June.

The organisation which represents evangelicals across the continent, does not have an official position in this issue, but shared this prayer “from European intercessors”:

God,

You are the creator of heaven and earth,

You are the maker of history.

We turn to you today, because we feel that we are approaching with this referendum a turning point of the history for Europe.

Therefore we cry out to you and declare before your throne:

God, the EU is Yours.

And Great Britain is Yours.

We ask for a strengthening

of love – against hatred,

of peace – against inciting fear,

of truth – against lies and deception.

Your will be done – which is a good one – for Britain and the Continent. We really ask for your best.

We thank You that we are citizens of the New Kingdom and so we are the light and the salt of the world.

Praise be to You!

“WHAT RELATIONSHIP CAN GOD MOST USE FOR HIS KINGDOM PURPOSES?”

EEA’s Socio-political representative Julia Doxat-Purser encouraged Christians to think biblically about the implications of their vote. “How does the Lord want us to relate to our European neighbours – migrants in the UK as well as the other European countries?”

How does He want us to relate to the rest of the world? What relationship can God most use for His Kingdom purposes? What are the missional consequences of remaining and leaving the EU?”
