Several Spanish entities are coordinating with local churches to respond to the needs resulting from the migration crisis.
The migration crisis in Ceuta in recent days due to the sudden influx of thousands of migrants has generated a need for help in the city, to which several evangelical churches and entities want to respond.
The Spanish Missions Platform, the Missions working group of the Spanish Evangelical Alliance and the social action department of the Assemblies of God have joined to promote a campaign to collect funds and basic goods and to channel this aid through entities and churches already active in Ceuta.
The organisers explain in a statement that the urgent aid will consist in “donations and voluntary work” . This action is inspired by the example of Jesus and his teaching to love your neighbour as yourself, emphasising that “the mission is outwards” and stressing the importance of “unity” to respond collectively to this situation.
“The local churches, missionaries and associations working on the front line are overwhelmed and need donations, clothing, food, shoes, personal hygiene kits, volunteers” , says the statement.
To respond to this immediate need, the entities are preparing a campaign to deliver 400 hygiene and food kits, which will take place on 5, 12, 16 and 26 June.
“We need your help. How can I help?” , says the poster of the campaign. It then says: “by volunteering”, and “by donating in the account of social action department of the Assemblies of God (DAS) for the purchase of kits” .
